TJCA ranks 6th among public school SAT scores

SHELBY — Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy average SAT score of 1701 ranked sixth among North Carolina's public school systems in 2016, according to the North Carolina Department of Public Instruction.

At TJCA, 96.3 percent of graduating seniors took the SAT, compared with 45.8 percent in the United States and 52.3 percent throughout North Carolina.

"The average student at Thomas Jefferson Classical Academy has an SAT score that is over 220 points higher than the average college-bound student in North Carolina," headmaster Joe Maimone said. "Our students' high SAT scores are a major reason why the graduates of the class of 2016 were offered over $7 million in academic scholarships. It is also a testament to the dedication of our teaching staff to deliver a high quality academic program to our students."
