The Psychic Blu-ray

Posted August 18, 2017 07:53 PM by

Scorpion ReleasingU.S. labels Code Red and Scorpion Releasing have teamed up to bring to Blu-ray cult Italian director Lucio Fulci's film The Psychic (1977), starring Jennifer O'Neill, Gabriele Ferzetti, and Marc Porel. The release, which was previously set to be distributed by Code Red, will now be sold under the Scorpion Releasing banner.

The Psychic

Synopsis: Shortly before he surrendered to the gory excesses of horror, Lucio Fulci - the notorious director of Zombie and Perversion Story - crafted one last brilliant thriller with a killer twist. Jennifer O'Neill of Scanners stars as a clairvoyant tormented by visions of a violent murder. But will her own investigation into the crime lead to the most shocking discovery of all? Marc Porel (Don't A Duckling) and Evelyn Stewart (The Whip And The Body) co-star this chilling giallo that critics and fans - including avowed devotee Quentin Tarantino - consider the most stunning film of the maestro's entire career.

Released in the U.S. with several key scenes removed, The Psychic (aka Seven Notes In Black and Murder To The Tune Of Seven Black Notes) is now presented in its fully restored European Version featuring footage never before seen in America. BRAND NEW MASTER.

STREET DATE: LATE 2017.

Also later this summer, the label will bring to Blu-ray director Peter Sasdy's thriller The Devil Within Her (1975), starring Joan Collins, Eileen Atkins, Ralph Bates, Donald Pleasence, and Caroline Munro.

Synopsis: Hollywood legend Joan Collins teams up with cult stars Donald Pleasence and Caroline Munro in this terrifying tale of a demonic baby!

Lucy (Collins, Dynasty, Land Of The Pharoahs) is a former dancer, having moved up in the world via marriage to the wealthy Gino Carlesi (Ralph Bates, Horror of Frankenstein, Taste The Blood Of Dracula). and now comfortably settled down. Lucy is expecting and when the time comes, she goes to the hospital to give birth to the baby. It proves to be a protracted, dangerous and painful delivery as the baby is a hefty 12-pounder. The new-born infant is no ordinary baby, either, as it slashes Lucy open leaving the womb. The baby soon attacks the nanny, demolishes the nursery, and likely had a hand in the mysterious death of a nurse. Gino's sister Albana (Eileen Atkins, Equus, Cranford, Gosford Park), a nun, arrives from her convent in Italy to visit her new nephew and immediately sees that all is not well. She suspects that the killer baby is the actual spawn of Satan! As the devil baby continues its murderous rampage and the body count rises, will anyone be able to stop The Devil Within Her?

Also starring Donald Pleasence (Halloween, THX 1138), Caroline Munro (Star Crash) and John Steiner (Yor The Hunter From The Future), The Devil Within Her is a terrifying tale that will have you gasping in horror.

Special Features and Technical Specs:
  • BRAND NEW REMASTER of the film with exclusive color correction
  • NEW on-camera interview with star Caroline Munro
  • Reversible front art with I Don't Want to be Born poster art
STREET DATE: EARLY SEPTEMBER.

I may do a blind buy of "The Psychic," but I won't be getting "The Devil Within Her." I saw it on VHS 20 years ago, I thought it sucked.

Scorpion posted the other day about The Psychic release. Essentially, they said that the scan they got was sub-par, and they're going to go another route with a transfer from Italy. Hence the "late 2017" release date. But hey, I'd rather get a good late release than a bad early one. Take your time, I say.

Will Psychic definitely be a different transfer or master from the German bluray?
