A driver boasting of a bomb outside the White House checkpoint was detained and the car searched with an anti-explosive robot late Saturday, according to a report.

The driver claimed to have explosives inside his car, CNN reported.

The Secret Service acknowledged that a suspicious vehicle approached the checkpoint at 15th St. and E St. NW. around 11 p.m. and that the driver had been taken into custody, according to a statement. The remarks made no mention of explosives.

President Trump was not inside the White House at the time of the late night security sweep. He is spending the weekend at his Mar-a-Lago club in Florida.

The bomb threat comes on the heel of two failed attempts to sneak into the White House. On Saturday, a man tried to scale a fence with a letter for the Trump administration. Charges are pending.

On March 10, Jonathan Tran was arrested after successfully jumping the fence and spending at least 17 minutes on the White House grounds. Secret Service agents eventually found the 26-year-old California man and arrested him at the southern entrance.

The intrusion was not made public until Friday.
