David L. Bognar of South Elgin pleaded guilty to aggravated stalking and domestic battery.

A 50-year-old South Elgin man has been sentenced to eight years in prison in recent weeks for stalking and battering a former girlfriend, prosecutors said.

David L. Bognar, of the 600 block of Lucille St. in South Elgin, was sentenced on Oct. 31 after pleading guilty to aggravated stalking, a Class 3 felony, and domestic battery, a Class 4 felony.

He is also accused of visiting her workplace. The former girlfriend had obtained an order of protection that prohibited Bognar from making contact with her, prosecutors said.

Prosecutors also said Bognar had previously convicted of domestic battery for battering the victim.
