United Airlines has a home once again at New York's JFK Airport.

The airline, which took a five-year hiatus from the airport, will be providing flights to Los Angeles International Airport and San Francisco International Airport five days a week.

"United's return to JFK reflects not only our strong commitment to the New York City area, but also to increasing service to and from the places our customers want to fly," AVice President of Domestic Network Planning and Scheduling, Ankit Gupta, said in a press release shared with T+L on Monday. "With the addition of JFK, United now offers unmatched service, greater convenience, more choice and a best-in-class product for travelers throughout the New York City region as they return to the skies."

Initially announced in November, United was originally planning to return to the New York airport on Feb 1, however the move was delayed do to COVID-19.

"We're happy to welcome United Airlines back to Kennedy Airport," said General Manager of John F. Kennedy International Airport, Charles Everett, said in the press release. "We remain committed to providing the highest level of safety, accessibility and ease of travel for all of the passengers who use the Port Authority's airport facilities, and United's decision is a great step in that direction."

United's JFK service will operate out of Terminal 7 and flights will be aboard a Boeing 767.

In addition to providing flights from New York to California, the airline also launched new routes from the Midwest, the Caribbean and popular domestic vacation spots like Hilton Head, S.C. and Portland, Maine.

Additionally, the airline has announced new routes to Hawaii, as well as a preclearance program that would help a passenger avoid Hawaii's quarantine mandate upon arrival.
