Dundee United cast aside their indifferent league form to negotiate what turned out to be a particularly tricky passage into the fifth round of the William Hill Scottish Cup, the Championship promotion contenders eventually overcoming an impressive Alloa side.

United manager Csaba Lazslo revealed afterwards that his interval team talk had been necessarily vocal.
