Drag has gone full on drive-in with Voss Events all-new Drive ‘N Drag experience.

The three-day show will feature performances by “RuPaul’s Drag Race” winners Jaida Essence Hall, Yvie Oddly and Aquaria along with fan-favorite queens Asia O’Hara, Acid Betty, Gigi Goode, Monet X’ Change, Kameron Michaels, Kim Chi, Naomi Smalls, Plastique, Vanessa Vanjie and Violet Chachki.

The show will take place at Bay and South Alameda streets in Downtown Los Angeles July 24-26. Patrons will be able to experience the live theatrical performances from inside or atop of their personal vehicles with concert style staging and lighting, large video screens and sound pumped from the stage and through the vehicles via FM transmitters. The event will be staged to promote social distancing and safety due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

There will be multiple shows running all weekend noon-11 p.m. with food and beverages available via food trucks and the earlier shows will include Voss Events’ famous Drag Brunch with a special brunch menu. Drag ‘N Drive tickets are $60 per car for two people. There are 100 VIP spots that are closest to the stage for $120 per spot. Additional passengers in the vehicle are $20 each. All general admission spots are assigned upon arrival. Tickets and more information is available at vossevents.com.

After the cancellation of RuPaul’s annual DragCon in May due to the global spread of novel coronavirus earlier this year, drag queens, kings and other LGBTQ+ artists quickly pivoted to virtual performances via outlets such as the Digital Drag Fest. Dozens of performers who depend upon live audiences in clubs to pay the bills and showcase their craft were able to capture audiences via livestreaming performances. Now, however, as the country begins to reopen, promoters and artists are getting creative with ways to bring live entertainment while still keeping things safe.

“Our Werq the World Tour typically plays inside large theaters and arenas,” Drag ‘N Drive producer Brandon Voss said via a press release. “But we’ve moved the show outside to continue providing much needed entertainment during these crazy times. A pandemic won’t keep our queens from ruling the stage. The drag show must go on.”
