National Grid tells us the “gas supply charge” (The last item on your heating bill) is tripling for the winter.
Reason: three times higher gas costs. How come? They have to import gas to have enough. Nationwide, gas costs are down but we can’t get enough American gas — not enough pipeline capacity.
Natural gas fuels 30 percent of electricity generation so electric-supply charges are going up, too. Isn’t it great how the anti-pipeline people protect us from cheap gas. Yay!
