CT 3, Berlin 2

SOMERSET — With the game tied 2-2 with two outs in the bottom of the seventh inning, Conemaugh Township pinch-hitter Dylan Drenner hit a walk-off single to defeat Berlin 3-2 Monday in the District 5 Class A baseball play-in game.

"You pinch, scratch and claw just to get a chance to play in this game," Conemaugh Township coach Sam Zambanini said. "We are grateful to play in this game. I tip my hat to Berlin, they played a great game today. Both teams played their best baseball today. It is a shame to see someone's season end."

Jake Grosik tossed a scoreless seventh inning to earn the victory for the Indians. Devin Foster, who took a no-hitter into the fifth inning, pitched six innings, striking out six and allowing two earned runs.

Jordan Poznanski went 2-for-4 with a run scored for Conemaugh Township (9-12). Cody Platt had a hit and two RBI's.

Brody Moore went 2-for-3 with two RBI's for the Mountaineers.

Kyle Boyce threw a complete game and suffered the loss.

Conemaugh Township, the No. 8 seed, will travel to Meyersdale to face the top-seeded Red Raiders on Wednesday in the first round the the District 5-A playoffs.

Schedule changes

The Hollidaysburg at Somerset District 6 Class AAA softball playoff game scheduled for Monday was postponed and will be played today at 4 p.m. at the Somerset softball field.

The Berlin at Tussey Mountain District 5 Class A softball play-in game scheduled for Monday was postponed and will be played today at 4:30 p.m. at Tussey Mountain.

Krause 7, Kern's 5

SOMERSET — Krause Electric and Refrigeration, Inc. defeated Kern's 7-5 in extra innings in machine pitch baseball on Monday.

Christopher Thompson's hit in the seventh inning, proved to be the game winner for Krause Electric.

Krause's was lead by Colt Hagans and Gage Smith who each went 4-for-4. Elliott Anderson and Gunner Stout went 3-for-3. Kellan Hagans and Tyler Yutzy contributed two hits each.

Kern's offense was lead by Colton Beener who went 3-for-3 at the plate. Caden Stephens, Garrett Reese, Xander Howsare and Aiden Roby each had two hits.

Piney Run seniors

GARRETT — The team of Mike Shumaker, Guy Imhoff, Bill Hajel and John Ralston shot 4-under par to win the Piney Run senior scramble in a card off Monday.

Second place at 4-under went to the team of John Hartman, Robert Harper, Gary Miller, Ernie Smith and Harry Watson.

Kickers went to John Ralston for longest putt on hole No. 5 and Mike Shumaker for closest second shot on No. 3.

In the afternoon scramble, the team of Mike Shumaker, Robert Harper, Ernie Smith and George Housel shot 5-under to take top honors.

Second place at 4-over was shot by the team of Doug Pritts, Gary Miller, Harry Watson and John Ralston.

The kicker was won by Doug Pritts for closest to the pin on No. 5.

Northwinds seniors

INDIAN LAKE — The team of Rick Walker, Bob Elliott, Lenny Strihan and Jack Dickey shot 6-under par to win the Northwinds morning senior scramble Monday.

Second place at 5-under went to the team of Bob MacTavish, Rick Murray, Denny Rolla and C.J. Banks in a card off.

Third place at 5-under was shot by the team of Gary Honkus, David Williams, Al Hendershot and Muz Blanchetti.

Kickers were won by Dave O'Brien for longest putt on hole No. 3 (10 feet, 8 inches) and Paul Martincsek on No. 9 (32 feet, 2 inches).

In the afternoon shamble, George Gonzalez, Dick Rhoades, Lenny Strihan and Marling Miller took top honors with a score of 68 points.

Second place with 63 points went to the team of Gary Honkus, Dennis Cobaugh and Al Hendershot.

Third place with 60 points was shot by the team of Jim Jorgenson, David Williams, C.J. Banks and Denny Gramling.

High point makers: George Gonzalez 19 points, David Williams 16, Marlin Miller 18, Muz Blanchetti 12.

Fred Reeping Memorial

SOMERSET — The 20th annual Fred Reeping Memorial golf scramble was held last Saturday at Somerset Country Club. All proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society.

Capturing first place was the team of Mark Yaros, Steve Yaros, Bruce Shipley and Andy Rush with a score of 60.

Given the conditions, the event was a success for the final Fred Reeping Memorial golf scramble. The event raised over $120,000 during the 20-year run. Thank you sponsors.

Northwinds couples

Strikers 5, Plum 2

SOMERSET — The Somerset Strikers U12 Boys PA West soccer team played the Plum Area Panthers at the Somerset Community Park on Sunday afternoon and won 5-2.

Goalie Jed Heiple played an excellent game with 17 saves on net. Mckay Ross scored three goals, Andan Brant scored one and Tyler Zimmerman added a goal.

Assists were credited to Colby Livengood with one, Liam Egal and Caleb Antram each had two assists. Gabe Zuccolotto played a shift on offense after being on injured reserve for the last several weeks. Mason Chabol, Quinton Robison, Austin Augustine, Jade Williams, Jack Richards and Thanyl Miller all held the team together to capture the win.

Lightning 4, Indiana 1

SOMERSET — The Somerset Orange Lightning girls U10 PA West soccer team won 4-1 against Indiana on Sunday.

Kylee Chabol and Josie Steele scored two goals each. Megan Barron and Abby Urban played a strong game to keep their team in the lead. Urban also had an assist. Outstanding goalkeeping was played by Kayla Pugh, Kamryn Ross, and Sophie Urbain.

SS 3, Murrysville 1

The Somerset Sharpshooters U10 boys soccer team, sponsored by Somerset County Drug-Free Communities, Woolley Fabrication & Welding, and Yelovich & Flowers, finished up the spring season with a 3-1 win against Murrysville.

Jared Walker started the scoring with a goal from the foot of Cole Johnson.

Johnson then scored on a well-placed penalty kick. Murrysville scored a late goal to end the half. Trevor McNabb tallied the only goal in the second half for the Sharpshooters from the hot foot of Johnson.

Sharpshooters team members are Aiden DiFebo, Micah Flower, Kahne Foltz, Brandon Jack, Cole Johnson, Caden Kaltenbaugh, Trevor McNabb, Logan Seslow, Carson Vought, Jared Walker, Tanner Wassilchalk, and Benjamin Witt.
