Margot Robbie has hinted she is already tied into a multi-picture deal to star as Harley Quinn.

The Focus actress made comments to the Arizona Republic that her appearance as the character could extend beyond Suicide Squad.

She described the role as "daunting" before adding: "You don't need to have commitment issues to be frightened by the fact that you might have just signed 10 years of your life away."

"But with [Harley], it's a character I don't think would ever get boring. Ever. So if they did Suicide Squad One, Two, Three… I would be over the moon about it."

Although no sequels have so far been announced, it appears Robbie and her co-stars Jared Leto, Will Smith and Jai Courtney may have been optioned to return to their roles if the film is a success.

Tom Hardy had previously dropped out of his role as leader of the squad Rick Flag, with casting for his replacement ongoing.

Leto recently described his take on the Joker as "a beautiful disaster".
