DAE-IL dirt work begins

A tractor is pictured Monday morning as work to move dirt progresses at the Murray West Industrial Park in the northern part of the city. Murray-Calloway County Economic Development Corporation President Mark Manning confirmed that the work involves the eventual construction of a $50 million plant for the South Korean automotive parts company DAE-IL.

MURRAY — Ever since the announcement in December that the Murray West Industrial Park was welcoming its first project since the construction of a spec building on that property, many people in the community have asked the same question: “What is happening with the project now?”

While it is not very visible to the general public – being hidden by a large hill on the west side of U.S. 641 South – action is happening. Starting last week, in fact, heavy equipment began moving dirt on the land that will eventually be home to a $50 million plant for the South Korean automotive parts company DAE-IL Corp. that will provide 120 jobs.
