The Tennessee Titans got good news from quarterback Marcus Mariota Thursday.

Head coach Mike Vrabel said Mariota took the majority of the reps in practice and sounded positive about what he saw.

“I would say that Marcus is actually better, felt like he threw the ball better today, so that’s positive. It’s moving in the right direction and we’ll just see where he’s at tomorrow,” he said.

Wednesday Mariota was adamant he was improving, while still dealing with some tingling in his throwing hand.

Most promising Thursday was Mariota’s ability to throw the ball downfield at practice. In the last week, Vrabel had said the injury prevented him from making all the throws needed. It sounds like he is eliminating that as a concern.

The hard part now for the Titans is making the call based on what Mariota says and what they see.

“I think that we always have to do what’s best for the team. Marcus [Mariota] understands that. I think he appreciates that. You have to kind of combine both, ‘Hey, I feel great,’ and then I have to trust Matt [LaFleur], have to trust Pat [O’Hara], have to trust what we see.”

The Titans need a healthy Mariota against a Jaguars team that just blew out the Patriots and head into Sunday a 6.5 point favorite over the Titans.
