Jody Mager, 67, passed away peacefully at her home in Chimacum, WA on March 16 after a hard-fought battle with breast cancer. Born in Olympia, WA on February 25, 1951 to Barbara and Earl Crumb, she was the youngest of four sisters. She is preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Virginia Crumb.

Jody leaves behind an ever-growing family that she was extremely proud of, including her loving husband, Roderick Mager and his son Collin Mager; her three grown children Rowan (Sam) Hull-Baily, Erica (Marcos Ocampo) Ellis, and James (Stephanie) Ellis and their father, Michael Ellis; grandchildren Avery (17), Ines (4), Ozzie (2), and Edwin (17 months); sisters Rosemary McCallum and Beth Pope; nieces Monica McCallum and Natalie Artuner; and nephews Sam McCallum, Charlie Pope, and Matthew Pope.

Jody spent her childhood and youth in Hoodsport, WA, and harbored a life-long fondness for the Hood Canal and surrounding areas. As a young woman, Jody studied nursing at Seattle Central Community College and became a registered nurse in 1978. She worked at Ketchikan General Hospital in Ketchikan, AK for 10 years, but spent the bulk of her career at Jefferson General Hospital where she worked for 27 years. There she treated and endeared herself to countless patients and made many lifelong friends. Jody retired from nursing in 2016.

Known for her sharp wit, humility, thoughtfulness, love of camping, and “twisted” sense of humor, Jody will be sorely missed by those who knew and loved her.

A memorial for Jody will be held June 4th at Old Fort Townsend State Park.
