AVON LAKE, Ohio -- One of the things so many people are talking about right about now is the exciting return of all the holiday events. It is just so joyous to be out and about again after so many holiday events were canceled last year due to the pandemic.
This year’s excitement centers around community events, but the other ingredient for authentic, hometown Christmas memories is the craft shows that bring out artisans’ best this time of year.
One of the very memorable craft shows making a comeback is the Avon Lake “Christmas By The Lake” craft show from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Dec. 4 in the auxiliary gym at Avon Lake High School, 175 Avon Belden Road.
The school has provided a list of what shoppers will find at this year’s show. But not everything is listed here -- this show is huge.
Some of the handcrafted items from some 90 vendors include jewelry, hand-knit items, wooden cutting boards, award-winning butters, doll clothes, natural body lotions and skin care products. It is also a place to pick up your Christmas greenery for holiday decorating.
The best plan for this show is to set aside enough time for leisurely shopping. You will be glad you did. You can find something very nice for most anyone on your Christmas list.
Noteworthy this year is a raffle, with prizes donated by the vendors.
Admission to the show is $3. Children 10 and younger are free.
And don’t think you have to wander around the show feeling hungry. There will be a concession stand serving light refreshments, according to the school’s information.
But the most valuable reason to attend the show is that the proceeds benefit the Avon Lake High School Scholarship Fund. What a great Christmas gift.
