Malvern Native Wins In Triumphant Jeopardy! Return Appearance

Rebecca Zoshak was invited back to the show due to a poorly-worded Final Jeopardy question in January. And it worked out quite well for her.

MALVERN, PA – Back in January, Malvern native Rebcca Zoshak appeared on Jeopardy! Unfortunately, Zoshak lost the game, but there was an issue with the Final Jeopardy! question and she was subsequently invited back to the program.

And on Wednesday, March 21, her return proved to be quite fruitful as she went on to become the newest Jeopardy! champion.

Zoshak, a Great Valley School District alumnae, dethroned two-day champion Lisa Mueller, winning $14,407, in Wednesday's game.

The Final Jeopardy! category Wednesday was "Films of the 1960s." The clue? "Bernard Herrmann scored this 1960 black & white thriller using only the string section of an orchestra."

The correct answer was "Psycho," which Zoshak nailed: she was a film major at Northwester University, her father Joe Zoshak told Patch.

He also told Patch "Matlock" was her favorite TV show when she was a teenager, and that happened to be the answer to a Double Jeopardy! round question that put her in the lead in Wednesday's game.

She will continue her run on the program at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 22 on ABC, so tune in and root for her to continue racking up prize money.

She is just one of 13 contestants to be invited back to the show since 1993.

In the topic of "The Movies" on the Jan. 11 episode, here's what Zoshak and the two other competitors were faced with on the Jan. 11 episode:

"It's the first Oscar nominee for Best Picture to be produced by an Internet streaming service." The answer was "Manchester by the Sea." However, the Oscar-winning film was not produced by a streaming service.

"We should have indicated that 'Manchester by the Sea' was distributed by a streaming service, not produced by one," Jeopardy! host Alex Trebek said following the final round. "The contestant who was affected by this has been invited back and will appear with us again later this year."

Zoshak did not have an answer to the question, and bet nearly all of her $7,600, ending up with just $25 in the end.
