Famed physicist and best-selling author
Stephen Hawking passed away in March 2018. And now news is that Hawking's
last book that he was working on before he died, titled
Brief Answers to Big Questions, will be published later this year.
"The Stephen Hawking Estate announced that rights to a final book by the world famous theoretical physicist were sold to
Nick Davies at
John Murray (Hachette) for the Britain and the commonwealth including India; and to Bantam for North America," said a statement by
Hachette India on Thursday.
London-based publisher John Murray too shared the news recently that they will be releasing Hawking's new book this year. As the name suggests,
Brief Answers to Big Questions will reveal Hawking's answers to "the big questions of our time." He further said that the book will include "everything from the creation of the universe, black holes, alien intelligence, and the existence of God, to the importance of space colonisation, and the perils and promise of artificial intelligence.”
The book will have four parts: "Why Are We Here?", "Will We Survive?", "Will Technology Save Us or Destroy Us?", and "How Can We Thrive?", according to the publisher. It's also said that a part of the book's royalties will be given to the
Motor Neuron Disease (MND) Association and the Stephen Hawking Foundation.
The legendary scientist and pop culture icon, who is known for his groundbreaking discoveries of the black holes and quantum mechanics, was diagnosed with ALS at age 21. But Hawking fought against all odds that life threw at him and continued to pursue his passion for knowledge. Some of the other books written by Hawking include
A Brief History of Time, The Universe in a Nutshell, and
On the Shoulders of Giants. When he died in March, at the age of 76, he was the longest living MND survivor.
Brief Answers to Big Questions is expected to be out in October, 2018.
