Page County Sheriff Chad Cubbage recently got back from a trip to Colorado. But the trip was not for fun; it was for work.

Sheriff Cubbage participated in the National Sheriffs' Institute, an executive development program designed for sheriffs.

The week-long program focused on a sheriff's role on increasing public safety, criminal justice system policy and community relations.

Sheriff Cubbage said it was a great program and called it the best school he has attended.

"You had the opportunity to speak with sheriffs from all around the country and find out what is working for them," Cubbage said.

Another benefit of Sheriff Cubbage's learning experience is it did not cost taxpayers a dime. The National Sheriffs' Institute covered the trip.
