Three people, including an Orange County sheriff’s deputy and a 10-year-old boy, were taken to hospitals as a precaution after a traffic accident Tuesday morning.

The deputy was driving north on Aliso Creek Road in Aliso Viejo when his patrol car and another car crashed at the Windsong intersection shortly before 7 a.m., Sheriff’s Lt. Jeff Hallock said.

The driver of the other car, a 36-year-old woman, complained of shoulder pain after the crash, said Capt. Steve Concialdi of the Orange County Fire Authority. She and her 10-year-old son were taken to the hospital to get checked out, Concialdi said.

The deputy also complained of some pain and was also going to the hospital as a precaution, Hallock said. He described all of the injuries as “relatively minor.”

The deputy did not have his patrol car’s lights and sirens on at the time, Hallock said.

The California Highway Patrol is investigating what caused the crash.
