Veronica Irene (Deschampe) Olson

Veronica Irene (Deschampe) Olson, 85, of Grand Portage, passed away at home on Wednesday, January 3, 2018, surrounded by her family.

She was born August 29, 1932 in Grand Portage, MN. She enjoyed traveling, bingo, the casino and most of all spending time with family. She was a member of the Grand Portage Band of Lake Superior Chippewa.

Veronica is preceded in death by her parents, Joseph and Theresa (Morrison) Deschampe; eight brothers; one sister and three children, Shirley Sylvester, Brian Olson and Sheryl Olson.

She is survived by her husband Edward A. Olson; daughters, Sharon Olson and Carol Cleveland; son-in-law Leonard Sylvester; grandchildren Gail (Wallace) Deschampe, Tammy Custer, Shaunna Wood, Vanessa (John) LeMaster, Ryan (Leslie) Olson, Jennifer (Paul) Spry, Kristi Krenz, Desiree (Howard) Likiaksa and Darren (Eden) Waha; 19 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, January 10th at 11:00 at Mt. Rose Community Church, Grand Portage, MN. Burial will be in the spring at Mt. Rose Cemetery, Grand Portage.
