Residents will have another chance to sound off on a controversial proposal to extend Round Lake Road in the Mount Dora area at a Lake County Commission meeting set for May 7.
Numerous residents have stated their opposition to the idea of widening Round Lake Road from two to four lanes between Meadowland Drive in Orange County and Wolf Branch Road in Lake County and extending Round Lake Road through an area near the Hills of Mount Dora to north of State Road 44, for a total of about 4.5 miles.
The county will be considering a “build” alternative while opponents favor a “no build” option, or, in other words, leaving things stay as they are now.
County officials say the extension is important to their luring high-paying professional jobs to the area designated as the Wolf Branch Innovation District.
The area is poised for growth due to a nearby tie-in to the Wekiva Parkway, which will complete an expressway loop around Central Florida.
The commission meeting starts at 10 a.m. in the round courthouse, 315 W. Main St., Tavares.
