Sharon L. Richards Bressendorff Dies in Illinois

Sharon L. Richards Bressendorff

Sharon L. Richards Bressendorff of Peter ‘s Rest died on Wednesday, Oct. 31 in Mascoutah, Illinois. She was 68 years old. She was a graduate of St. Joseph’s High School, Class of 1968.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Sybil L. Richards; and her father, Alphonso Richards of Grove Place.

She is survived by her son, James Bressendorff; daughter-in-law, Kathleen Bressendorff, grandsons: Gabriel and Xander Bressendorff; godson, Alexander Walcott; sisters: Alicia Doute (St. Thomas) and Michele Richards (Atlanta); brother, Winston Smith (St. Thomas); nieces: Monique (Robert) Ferrell, Crystal (Irvin) Brown, Nicole Smith and Chanique Smith; nephews: Winston Smith, Anthony Smith and Kwame Smith; and special friends: Sharon Williams, Edna Me Belardo, Luz Walters, Karla Williams, Mercedes McGregor and Cynthia Richards.

She is also survived by cousins and other relatives: Dr. Robin Brannigan, Dr. Otis Brannigan, Honorable Darryl D. Donohue, Bianca Jones, Dr. Rodney Richards, Dr. Jinne’ Richards, Douglas Williams and Janet Williams-Lake, Symone and Syrena Carter and the Thomas family; aunts: Constance Graham and family, and Dorothy Lockhart and family; uncle, Valdemar Abraham and family; great nieces: Jilyssa (Jamal) Cross, Brianna Brown and Chantelle Brown; great-great niece, Jaylyn Cross; great nephews: Robert Ferrell II, Michael Ferrell, Derrell and Alonte Smith; as well as other relatives and friends too numerous to mention.

Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m., Monday, Nov. 19, at James Memorial Funeral Home.

A viewing will take place at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral service at 10 a.m., Tuesday, Nov. 20, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Interment will be at Kingshill Cemetery.
