West Alabama's Boyd tabbed by Lindy's as preseason All-American

LIVINGSTON - West Alabama tight end Qua Boyd has been named to the 2019 Preseason Lindy's Sports NCAA Division II All-America Team

Boyd, a senior from Lafayette, Alabama who will play his final season as a Tiger as a graduate student, was an All-America, All-South Region and All-Gulf South Conference selection following the 2018 season.

Despite missing three games due to nagging injuries, Boyd caught 46 passes for 562 yards and seven touchdowns. He caught a 24 passes in games against NCAA Division II playoff teams Valdosta State, Lenoir-Rhyne and Bowie State for a combined 296 yards (98.7 pg).

In two seasons as a Tiger after transferring from Jones County (Miss.) Junior College, Boyd has 98 receptions for 1,222 yards and 11 touchdowns, leaving him eighth on the UWA career receptions list.

Boyd led Gulf South Conference tight ends in receptions and receptions per game (4.6) in 2018. He was sixth overall in total receptions in the league as West Alabama had three of the top six receivers in the GSC last season.

Boyd and the Tigers report to camp on Aug. 7 and open the 2019 season Saturday, Sept. 7 by hosting Limestone at Tiger Stadium.
