GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WOOD) He’s been on “60 Minutes” and “Saturday Night Live.” Now pianist Marcus Roberts is performing with the Grand Rapids Symphony.

Roberts lost his vision due to cataracts and glaucoma at age five, yet still became a successful musician. He played with Wynton Marsalis and Jazz at Lincoln Center, has appeared on “Saturday Night Live,” was artist-in-residence for the 2002 Winter Olympics in Salt Lake City, among other accomplishments.

Roberts is guest pianist with the Marcus Roberts Trio for the Grand Rapids Symphony’s “Symphony with Soul featuring Rhapsody in Blue.” He’ll be playing with his trio, which includes Marsalis’ younger brother, Jason, on drums, and Roberts will be guest soloist with Gershwin’s “Rhapsody in Blue.”

Symphony with Soul takes place at 8 p.m. on Saturday, February 27, at DeVos Hall in Grand Rapids. Tickets start at $18 and are available:
