Gemma Atkinson said her past relationships with her exes weren't stable enough to have kids.
The actress, 34, has just started a family with her man Gorka Márquez as they raise baby Mia together at their lovenest.
However, the mum explained she hadn't always known she wanted to have babies because she always felt her relationships were too turbulent to have kids.
Speaking with Giovanna Fletcher on her podcast Happy Mummy Happy Baby , she confessed she thought she might end up 40 with a number of dogs to keep her company.
She said: "Until I met Gorka, I couldn't picture myself having a family with anybody.
"My relationships weren't stable enough to even consider having a child. I always imagined I'd be 40 with several dogs...
"Most of my relationships got to two years and got weird. When you meet the right person, it just clicks!"
Gemma was swept off her feet by Gorka after the pair first crossed paths on Strictly Come Dancing.
Their love blossomed and the couple went public with their relationship the following Valentine's Day while they were away on a minibreak.
The blonde bombshell recalled the moment she told her mum she was sure things were going to pan out with her latest love.
Looking back, Gemma remembered how Gorka sweetly asked her if she wanted babies.
She added: "He's Spanish and family is a big thing for him. He said, 'Do you ever want babies?' I said, 'Maybe'. I was thinking, why? He explained he did want that in his future.
"He was doing the right thing, sussing out, I said to my mum I think I can see myself with Gorka for a long time."
Gemma had a turbulent love life before she set her sights on Gorka.
She has had a number of headline-grabbing romances with the likes of footballers Marcus Bent and Cristiano Ronaldo.
The actress has been engaged once before to martial arts hunk Liam Richards; the pair enjoyed a three-year romance before calling it quits on their love story in 2013.
