"What's great about that is students now have exposure to more tools, which gives them ability to tap into the 21st century skills that are important for today's jobs," said Executive Director of Development for EdTech Team Monica Martinez.
Martinez added the summit also gives educators from all backgrounds an opportunity to collaborate and generate ideas and share techniques they are already incorporating in their classrooms.
"These are innovative processes and ideas that can be used in the classroom tomorrow," said Martinez. "In other words, it's not something that's not accessible to them. Instead it's something that becomes a very realistic project, idea, or lesson that they can do."
Educators also learn practical and effective strategies for enhancing and individualizing their instruction to overcome new challenges facing today's learners.
These educators can also walk away with ways to make the learning experience fun and meaningful to increase student engagement.
"If you go to one, you can't think 'Oh I've been to one, I know it all,'" said Principal of Cache Public Schools Christy Taylor. "If you're up to date, then your teachers and your students will be up to date."
The conference included keynotes and breakout sessions on issues such as:
Technology integration
21st century learning skills
Student motivation, engagement and agency
Student-focused differentiation and personalization
Design thinking and rapid prototyping
Inquiry, problem-based learning, Genius Hour, and 20% Time
