Funeral services for Kate Spade held Thursday in Kansas City, Missouri

Funeral services for fashion designer Kate Spade will be held in her hometown of Kansas City this week.

the funeral is scheduled for Thursday at 3:00 pm. at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Redemptorist Catholic Church.

Spade, a fashion designer known for her sleek handbags, was found hanged in the bedroom of her Park Avenue apartment Tuesday in an apparent suicide, police said. She was 55.

Family members called her death a complete shock. Her husband, Andy Spade recalled her being 'happy' just the night before.

According to her father, Frank Brosnahan, the funeral will be held at the same church where Spade's grandparents were married.
