Former Seattle Seahawks quarterback Trevone Boykin reportedly was arrested Wednesday and remains in custody for aggravated assault after an alleged attack against his girlfriend, Shabrika Bailey, according to TMZ Sports

Kevin Reece of WFAA ABC first reported Tuesday that police in Mansfield, Texas were investigating Boykin after Bailey said he choked her and broke her jaw.

Boykin was released by the Seahawks on Tuesday.

He denied the allegations in a statement Tuesday, via Ian Rapoport of NFL Network:

Bailey was also arrested with Boykin in March 2017 after she injured several pedestrians while driving, per Reece. She received charges of intoxication assault, while Boykin had his charges dropped as just being a passenger in an accident. Bailey told Reece this week that Boykin had attacked her in the car, causing the accident, but she covered for him at the time to save his NFL career.

The 24-year-old was a standout at TCU but hasn't made much of an impact in the NFL. He has played just five games in two seasons, spending all of last year on the practice squad.
