Despite being a massive underdog against No. 1 Alabama this week, The Citadel wants the world to know it isn’t afraid of the SEC.

That’s why the Bulldogs called their shot against the Crimson Tide — and took a shot at South Carolina — in a tweet Friday morning.

The Citadel’s official Twitter account posted a reminder of the last time the team appeared on the SEC Network, tagging both Alabama and the Gamecocks. The Bulldogs were referring to their 2015 game against South Carolina, which they won 23-22 in a stunning upset for the FCS squad.

Granted, that Gamecocks team went 3-9 in a lost season that saw coach Steve Spurrier resign in October. The Citadel, meanwhile, finished as a top-15 FCS team and reached the second round of that level’s playoffs.

But these Bulldogs are just 4-5 and are going up against college football’s juggernaut. Though Citadel players and coaches themselves must know they stand virtually no chance against Alabama on Saturday, it’s refreshing to see them have a little fun with the moment.

Alabama (10-0) hosts The Citadel at noon ET on Saturday.
