Samuel L. Jackson to be honored at BET Awards

Samuel L. Jackson is adding another trophy to his shelf.

The actor, who has won BAFTA and Independent Spirit awards, will be honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award at Sunday's BET Awards (BET, 8 ET/PT).

Jackson, who made his film debut in 1972's Together for Days, is best known for his work in Quentin Tarantino films The Hateful Eight, Django Unchained and Pulp Fiction, for which he was nominated for an Academy Award. He will next be seen in this summer's The Legend of Tarzan and Tim Burton's Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children later this year.

“It’s an honor to receive the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2016 BET Awards later this month,” Jackson, 67, said in a statement. “I’m humbled to be recognized by my peers and to join the company of the exemplary recipients before me.”

The BET Awards will be hosted by Black-ish stars Anthony Anderson and Tracee Ellis Ross, and include performances by Usher, Desiigner, Future, Bryson Tiller, Alicia Keys, and Maxwell. Nominees for the awards, which highlight movies, TV and music, include Beyoncé, The Weeknd, Kanye West, Kerry Washington, and Idris Elba.
