GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY

LAKE ORION WINS LINDEN INVITE

On Saturday the Lake Orion girls cross country won the Linden Invitational with a total of 58 points. In the varsity race, the Dragons won for the second year in a row. In lieu of trophies, Linden High School will donate $100 in our team name to an organization of Lake Orion’s choice. This year the team chose to donate to Michigan Animal Rescue League. The teams winning performance was led by Sophie Novak who finished second overall, and Allison Sherman closely on her heels in fourth place. Medals were earned to the top 35 finishers. Other medalists were Iris Meech (14th), Marissa O’Leary (20th), Abby Locke (21st) and Olivia Ames(24th).

SOUTHFIELD CHRISTIAN EIGHTH AT JEFFERSON

On Saturday the Southfield Christian girls cross country team raced at the Monroe Jefferson Invite. The Lady Eagles finished in eighth place with a total of 190 points. The Eagles were once again led by senior Maddie Chau (32nd place), followed by Holly Smith (37th), Kayla Williams (39th), Alexis Donnan (44th) and Lilly Hallgren (69th).

HOLLY TAKES THIRD

The Holly Bronchos boys cross country team placed third as a team on Saturday at the Old Skool Classic, finishing with 122 points. Leading the Bronchos were Jose Vivanco in sixth place with a time of 18:02, Gabe Sanchez in 10th place at 18:28, Cooper Frederick in 12th place at 18:32, Tyler Thomason in 14th place at 18:37 and Victor Ruiz in 15th place at 18:38.

SOUTHFIELD CHRISTIAN PLACES 11th

On Saturday the Eagles raced at the Monroe Jefferson Invite and finished in 11th place. Southfield Christian was led by senior Eric Wagoner in 38th place (19:30), followed by Jonah Stephens in 64th, Micah Nelson in 73rd, Tyler Kowalski in 74th and Ashton Glenn in 98th.

CRANBROOK 28, WALLED LAKE CENTRAL 25

The Cranbrook football team held off Walled Lake Central on Saturday for a 28-25 victory. The Cranes held a 28-0 lead at halftime before the Vikings surged in the second half. Jack Fairman threw for 79 yards and two touchdowns to Toomey Connor while Nelluri Murari rushed for 134 yards on 10 carries to lead the Cranes. C.J. Davidson rushed for 162 yards and two touchdowns to lead the Vikings.

WOLL FALLS IN FINALS

The Waterford Our Lady of the Lakes volleyball team hosted its own tournament on Saturday and lost in three sets to Davison in the finals, 8-25, 25-18, 15-11. Abby Kawka had 14 digs to lead the Lakers in the final while Lexi Koenig had 11 kills with nine digs and Gabrielle Hysni had 17 assists. Natalie Koenig also added nine digs with five kills.
