NEW YORK (AP) — New York City is closing the rest of its major bridges as Hurricane Sandy hits full force.
The East River Bridges are closed due to high winds. City officials say the Brooklyn, Manhattan, Williamsburg and Ed Koch Queensboro bridges will all be closed to traffic at 7 p.m. Monday.
The Verrazano, Throgs Neck and George Washington bridges will also close at 7 p.m.
After 6 p.m., the Bayonne, Outerbridge and Cross Bay Veterans Memorial bridges were closed.
The suburban Tappan Zee Bridge was closed at 4 p.m. because of high winds.
The following bridges also are closing: Bronx-Whitestone, Henry Hudson, Marine Parkway-Gil Hodges Memorial, and Cross Bay Veterans Memorial.
The RFK-Triborough Bridge will stay open for now, while FDR Drive from the Battery to 155th Street closed.
