Scott Ruthsatz, head coach of Covington Catholic basketball teams that won two state championships and four 9th Region titles over the last six years, will be one of three inductees into the Northern Kentucky Sports Hall of Fame at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Villa Hills Civic Club.
The ceremony is free and open to the public.

Ruthsatz has compiled a 227-54 record in eight seasons at CovCath. The Colonels won the “Sweet 16” state tournament in 2014 and 2018 to become the first 9th Region team with two state championship trophies.
The other Hall of Fame inductees on Wednesday will be Boone County baseball coach Wayne Huff and former Scott basketball player Chris Haynes.
Huff has won more than 200 games in 17 years as a high school varsity baseball coach at Silver Grove and Boone County. He’s in his 11th season at Boone County, where he guided the Rebels to the 9th Region championship in 2010. Huff coached Knothole baseball and high school tennis earlier in his career.
Haynes was a freshman center on the Scott boys basketball team that won the 9th Region championship in 1989. He scored 15 points in that title game and went on to set a team record with 1,596 points during his varsity career that ended in 1992.
Haynes held the Eagles’ career scoring record for 24 years before it was broken by Jake Ohmer, who graduated from Scott in 2017 with 2,705 total points.
