19-Year-Old Woman Shot In Downtown Portland Friday, Police Say

The shooting occurred just after 11:30 a.m. on the westside of downtown. Police are still searching for the suspect.

PORTLAND, OR β€” A 19-year-old woman was shot in the leg in downtown Portland Friday morning, police officials said. The suspect has not yet been caught.

Police were dispatched to a reported shooting in the 2200-block of West Burnside Street around 11:30 a.m. Jan. 12. The woman officers located was quickly taken to hospital with a non-life-threatening injury to her leg, police said.

After the shooting, the suspect fled into the surrounding neighborhood and has not yet been found.

The suspect is described as a black man in his 20s with a thin build. At the time of the shooting, he was reportedly wearing a black hoodie, black sweat pants, and apparently visible red underwear.

Officers searched the area between Northwest Irving and Burnside streets, and Northwest 21st to Northwest 24th avenues but ultimately came up empty-handed. Officers are equally unsure of a motive for the shooting.
