Alexi Kenney
The Lee University School of Music will welcome Alexi Kenney, violin, and Renana Gutman, piano, to continue the Performing Arts Series. The concert will take place on Monday, Nov. 13, at 7:30 p.m., in Squires Recital Hall, in Lee’s Humanities Center.
The recipient of a 2016 Avery Fisher Career Grant, Mr. Kenney has been praised by The New York Times for “immediately drawing listeners in with his beautifully-phrased and delicate playing.”
He won the 2013 Concert Artists Guild Competition and has performed at Carnegie Hall. His upcoming 2017-18 season includes performances at the Detroit, Columbus, California, and Amarillo symphonies.
Mr. Kenney’s main focus is chamber music. He holds a Bachelor of Music from the New England Conservatory of Music, where he is also currently completing his Artist Diploma.
Ms. Gutman has played on four different continents in locations such as The Louvre Museum, St. Petersburg’s Philharmonia, Carnegie Recital Hall, and Stresa Music Festival. The New York Times describes her playing as “passionate and insightful.”
She is a member of the “Echoes of Hope” project that is dedicated to performing obscure pieces by Jewish composers who died in the Holocaust. A native of Israel, Ms. Gutman came to the United States to complete her bachelor and master of music degrees at the Mannes College of Music.
Along with performing, Ms. Gutman has taught at the Yehudi Menuhin Music School in the United Kingdom. She currently teaches at Bard College Preparatory in New York.
They will perform works by Bach, Respighi, Salonen, and Schubert.
Monday’s performance is open to the public and free of charge, but tickets are required due to limited seating. Tickets will be available beginning Nov. 6 in the Dixon Center Box Office from 3-6 p.m., Monday through Friday, or by calling 614-8343.
