Michael Strahan has landed another giant role at ABC.
The new “Good Morning America” host has sold “Hobbs” his first script to ABC, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
The former New York Giants player’s drama centers around a college football player, and former Heisman Trophy winner, who joins the Miami police force after not being picked up by an NFL team.
Michael Caleo (“The Sopranos” and “The Family”) will executive produce and write the script with Strahan serving as producer.
“Hobbs” marks his fourth project with ABC following his abrupt departure from “Live With Michael and Kelly.”
His last day on “Live!” came months earlier than expected after his co-host Kelly Ripa threw a temper tantrum after Strahan and ABC executives surprised her with news that he landed a high-profile gig at “Good Morning America.”
Days leading up to exit, Ripa, 45, then proceeded to joke on-air about his divorce, contract negotiations, and even his astrological sign, Sagittarius.
Strahan, 44, also hosts the game show, “The $100,000 Pyramid” on ABC.
