Mt. Vernon police searching for bank robbery suspect

MT. VERNON, IL (KFVS) - Mt Vernon police are searching for a suspect in connection to a bank robbery that occurred on Monday, May 13.

According to police, the Peoples National Bank on Main Street was robbed at 9:49 a.m.

The suspect was described as 5-feet, 4-inches tall and a thin build. He is believe to be in his early 20s. He was wearing black pants, a black hooded sweatshirt and blue shoes.

Police say he gestured that he might have a weapon, but it was not seen.

The suspect ran away on foot to an area of vacant housing.

The FBI is also taking part in this investigation. The bank is back open at this time.
