Man dead after jumping from I-17 bridge near Munds Park

A man died Friday morning after jumping from a bridge on Interstate 17 south of Munds Park, officials said.

The body was found approximately 70 feet below the bridge shortly after midnight Friday while a Department of Public Safety trooper was checking a vehicle in the area, according to the Coconino County Sheriff's Office. 

Officials said the victim is from Phoenix. The death is currently under investigation by the sheriff's department and the county medical examiner's office.
