UPDATED: Arrest made in connection with Kirksville manhunt

KIRKSVILLE, Mo. — UPDATE: A northeast Missouri woman is charged in connection with the Troy Franklin investigation.

Ashley Christman, 21, of Kirksville, is now faces a felony charge of Hindering Prosecution.

She is being held in the Adair County Law Enforcement Center on $5,000 cash-only bond.

Christman was arrested on Thursday.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol is releasing more details about the man who prompted a nearly five-hour manhunt just outside Kirksville on Thursday.

Sgt. Eric Brown told KTVO the man various law enforcement agencies were trying to find was Troy L. Franklin, 34, who most recently has been staying in Kirksville.

Before that, he had been living in Milan, Missouri. He also has ties to Sullivan, Missouri.

Brown said Franklin is wanted on a felony warrant for a parole violation related to an original charge of Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer.

Franklin is a white male with brown hair and brown eyes. He is 6' tall and weighs 165 pounds. A mug shot was not available from the St. Charles County Sheriff's Office.

Brown said a state trooper spotted Franklin in a vehicle in Kirksville Thursday morning and attempted to pull Franklin over because he knew he was a wanted man.

Franklin then led the officer on a brief pursuit before fleeing on foot into a densely wooded area near the intersection of Missouri Street and Orrick Trail just west of Kirksville.

The highway patrol, Kirksville Police Department and Adair County Sheriff's Office helped look for Franklin. They used a canine and an aircraft, but they were unable to find him.

The search was called off around 3:30 p.m. Thursday.

Brown said this is the second time in recent weeks that Franklin has fled from a trooper.
