Conant student wins 8th Congressional District art contest

Conant High School senior Ryoka Lulu Matsuno is the winner of the 2015 art competition for the 8th Congressional District of Illinois for her piece "Tokyo," the office of U.S. Rep. Tammy Duckworth of Hoffman Estates announced.

The piece, a graphite, charcoal and collage mix, will be displayed in the U.S. Capitol alongside artwork from every congressional district across the country.

Additional winners that will have their work displayed in Duckworth's and Washington, D.C. offices are Shannon Rees, a Schaumburg High School sophomore; Robert Southern, a Conant High School senior; Jocelyn Ares, a Conant High School junior; Jake Spila, a Palatine High School sophomore; Raelin Means, a Conant High School freshman; and Mariah Reeves, a Hoffman Estates High School sophomore.
