Contrary to how you might feel in daily Tulsa traffic, Oklahoma drivers are not the worst in the country. But they are bad.
Oklahoma came in at No. 5 in Truthfinder's rankings of the United States' worst driving records by state. The website tabulated its list based on U.S. Department of Transportation data of driving-related deaths, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reports of speeding-related deaths, and Justice Department DUI arrest statistics. North Dakota was rated worst in the nation.
Oklahoma ranked No. 6 in driving-related deaths, No. 8 in speeding-related deaths and No. 17 in drunk driving arrests. The state was also classified worst among its neighbors; New Mexico received a No. 6 overall ranking, Missouri was No. 7, Kansas was No. 17, Texas ranked No. 19, Arkansas was No. 23, and Colorado came in at No. 25.
