SYRACUSE, N.Y. -- Free training in the use of Narcan, a medication used to revive people who overdose on opioid drugs, will be offered to the public at the 2018 New York State Fair.
The state Office of Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Services will provide the training at its booth in the Science and Industry Building on these dates and times:
*Aug. 22, Aug. 23, Aug. 28, Aug. 29, Aug, 30, Sept. 2 and Sept. 3 at 11 a.m. and 7 p.m.;
*Aug. 24, Aug. 27 at 11 a.m.
*Aug. 25, 7 p.m.
Training will also be offered at 11:30 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m. Aug. 31 in the Empire Room during "Stomp Out Stigma Day," which coincides with International Overdose Awareness Day.
The day will feature talks by former BMX professional rider Tony Hoffman who overcame drug abuse. He will speak at 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. in the Empire Theater of the Wegmans Art & Home Center.
