Before the Door Pictures, Zachary Quinto’s Los Angeles-based production outfit, has inked a first-look non-scripted partnership with Spoke Studios, the creative content division of Brent Montgomery‘s Wheelhouse Group.
Under terms of the deal, Quinto (pictured) and Before the Door will team with Spoke Studios to develop and produce a variety of unscripted titles and feature-length documentaries for television, streaming, podcasting and cinema.
In addition, the company has signed a two-year first-look deal with AMC for scripted fare.
Elsewhere, Before the Door has hired former media executive Steve Baker as head of production and elevated Marie Nikolova to development executive.
Baker joins from HBO, where he most recently served as VP of series programming and was responsible for overseeing the development and production of original comedy series for the network, including The Ricky Gervais Show, Ballers and Eastbound and Down.
Prior to HBO, Baker worked in both the motion picture literary and television literary departments of Endeavor Agency.
“My interests have always been rooted in telling meaningful stories which speak to people from all walks of life. I feel lucky to have found the creativity and collaboration in Steve and Marie that will help propel our collective vision forward and redefine Before the Door Pictures,” said Quinto in a statement. “I am especially thrilled to announce these new partnerships with my AMC family… and Spoke Studios, a unique and innovative presence in the industry. This is an exciting time for Before the Door – we are developing so many projects that we are eager to share with the world.”
“We’ve been fans of Zach for a long time and have been impressed by his substance, his intellect and his range, all of which are evident in his work as a performer and a producer,” Will Nothaker and Joe Weinstock, co-presidents of Spoke Studios, added. “This is an exciting partnership and we’re eager to delve into rich, new creative worlds together.”
