A man found three days after an Indiana wreck that killed his girlfriend is now facing charges in the crash.

Kevin Bell, 39, of Dover, Pennsylvania, was charged with driving with a suspended license causing death, leaving the scene of a fatal crash, both felonies, failure to report a dead body, driving with a suspended license and providing false information. The last three charges are misdemeanors.

Bell was driving a Ford Explorer with girlfriend Nikki Reed, 37, of Seymour, Indiana, on Sept. 17 when he went down an embankment and crashed head-on into a tree along U.S. Route 50 in Jennings County, close to the Ripley County line.

An autopsy confirmed Reed died of injuries sustained in the crash, according to the Indiana State Police.

Troopers found Bell and the wrecked vehicle on Sept. 20 after Bell, whose leg was injured, crawled to the road and hailed a passing driver who called 9-1-1.

Police said Bell lied to Trooper Rick Hewitt who responded to the call about how he sustained his injuries. Bell did not initially tell officers that he had been in a crash or that Reed was dead inside the vehicle, police said.

Bell was treated in an Indianapolis hospital and released this week. A warrant for his arrest on charges stemming from the crash was issued Thursday, police said. Bell had not been located as of Thursday night, according to police.

Bell was also wanted on a warrant out of Pennsylvania.
