McCORMICK David V., age 56, of Dimmitt, Tx., passed away May 16, 1996 at Plains Memorial Hospital, Dimmitt, Tx. Mr. McCormick was born July 14, 1939 in Marlow, Ok. to Mr. & Mrs. Wesley McCormick. He was a 1957 graduate of Marlow High School. On Nov. 14, 1980, he married Cassa Dennis in Wichita Falls, Tx. Mr. McCormick was a member of the First Baptist Church in Dimmitt, Tx. He received his B.A. Degree in Animal Science from Oklahoma State University. From 1961-71 he served as Vo. Ag teacher in Hydro, Ok.; 1971-81 Livestock Coaching Judge & Dean of Students at Murray Junior College in Tishomingo, Ok.; 1981-1990 Vo. Ag Instructor at Clinton High School in Clinton, Ok.; 1990-1991 served as Oklahoma State Campaign Manager for Wes Atkins. Mr. McCormick moved to Dimmitt, Tx. and was employed as the Vocational-Agriculture teacher. Mr. McCormick received the Honorary Farmer Chapter Degree from numerous FFA Chapters and was named Administrator of the Year at Murray Jr. College, as well as "Supporter of the Year" by the girls basketball teams at Murray. Survivors include his wife, Cassa McCormick of Dimmitt, Tx.; parents, Mr. & Mrs. Wesley McCormick of Marlow, Ok.; 2 sons, Jay Lynn McCormick of Dimmitt, Tx. and Mitchell McCormick of Chickasha, Ok.; 1 daughter, Natalie Witte of Duncan, Ok.; 2 sisters, Artents Ament of Marlow, Ok. and Arquita Gullett of Duncanville, Tx. Mr. McCormick was preceded in death by a sister, Arvata Carter in 1964. Funeral services will be held 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 18, 1996 at the First Baptist Church, Dimmitt, Tx. Graveside service 1:00 p.m. Monday, May 20, 1996, Marlow Cemetery, Marlow, Ok. Rev. Paul Kenley, Pastor, will officiate. Memorials may be made to the David McCormick-Dimmitt FFA Memorial Livestock Trailer Fund, c/o First United Bank, P.O. Box 929, Dimmitt, Tx. 79027. Pallbearers, Wayne Cobb, John Loftin, W.J. Hill, Lannie Crow, Donny Nelson, James Simpson, Don Moore and Gene Bradley. Honorary Pallbearers, Texas & Oklahoma Vocational Agricultural Science Teachers and members of FFA Chapter of Dimmitt, Texas. Mr. McCormick's body will lie in state at the Callaway-Smith-Cobb Funeral Home in Marlow, Ok. Sunday from 12:00 Noon until service time.
