Gridlock alert: Avoid downtown KC, snowy conditions slow commute
A snowy commute, with an incoming wintry mix this weekend
Snowy conditions caused some traffic problems during the evening commute on Thursday.

Traffic was paralyzed in portions of downtown Kansas City on Thursday afternoon as drivers tried to deal with slippery conditions around the downtown loop.
Conditions were expected to improve after the commute this evening and into the overnight hours.
All attention is on this weekend's incoming wintry mix. The mix will set into the Kansas City metro on Friday evening.
Rain, snow and freezing rain is possible with the mix from Friday night into Saturday morning, before the mix changes to all snow by Saturday afternoon.
The precipitation is expected to end by early Saturday night.
Accumulation is possible with the precipitation, though it is expected to be light. We'll have a better idea of how much as we get closer to the event.
