Florence Rosalie Davis Robins “Flo” Abuza, 98, of Hanover, New Hampshire passed away on March 13. She was born May 10, 1920 in Baltimore, Maryland to the late Morris and Anna (Terlitzky) Davis. She graduated from Western High School in Baltimore, Maryland. Flo attended Johns Hopkins University for a year or two, studied liberal arts, and worked in the family business, Davis Lumber & Supply of Baltimore, Maryland through World War II. She married Seymour Albert Robins, of New Britain, Connecticut in 1943. After WWII, in 1946, Flo and Seymour moved to West Hartford, Connecticut. Flo lived in the Hartford area from 1946 through 2010, then moved into Kendal at Hanover, an assisted living facility in Hanover, New Hampshire. Flo was married to Seymour until his death in 1976. She married Henry William Abuza in 1981 and moved to Vernon, CT and Long Boat Key, FL in 1981. Flo and Henry moved their Vernon residence to West Hartford, CT in 1998. Flo was a homemaker, great cook, mother of three sons, and had a commercial bakery in her kitchen. Flo had a wide variety of interests including gardening, needlepoint, knitting, entertaining, theatre, fashion/style, antiques, movies, and music. She was an avid tennis player, golfer, and jogger. She was a member of Tumblebrook Country Club and the Congregation Beth Israel for many decades. Flo is survived by her children and their spouses, Larry and Maria Robins, of Sunapee, NH; Ron and Lora Robins of Chappaqua, NY; and Jeff Robins of Clovis, CA. She leaves step-children and their spouses Barbara and Lester Hyman of Lansing, Michigan, and Susan and Gautam Ghosh of Tampa, Florida. She leaves five grandchildren and their partners: Sam Robins and Lauren Annunziata; Sarah Robins; Henry Robins and Jeff Catlow; Benjamin Robins and fiancé Julie Pearson; and William Robins and fiancé Megan Hansley. She leaves four step-grandchildren and their spouses: Aaron and Tania Hyman; Joel and Michelle Hyman; Ben and Amanda Ghosh; and Emily and Alex Harris. She leaves four step-great grandchildren: Naomi and Evie Hyman and Cecelia and Elisha Hyman. Flo was predeceased by both her husbands; her brother, Harry Davis; and her sister, Adele Cherry.The family would like to send their appreciation to the staff at Kendal at Hanover and Wendy Thornton, who have taken great care of Flo for the past nine years.In lieu of flowers, please make contributions to the Jewish Federations of North America or a charity of your choice.The funeral service will be held at Weinstein Mortuary at 640 Farmington Ave., Hartford, CT 06105 on Sunday, March 17 (arrive at 11:00 am, service begins promptly at 11:30 am). The interment will be at Beth Alom cemetery, 48 Allen St. New Britain, CT 06053.
