Donald L. Crement

Donald L. “Don” Crement, 56, a longtime resident of the Amherst, New Hampshire community, more recently of Hillsboro, Oregon, died Friday evening, January 25, 2013 at his home.

A Graveside Service will be held on Monday, February 4, 2013 at 11:00 A.M., at Willamette National Cemetery, 11800 SE Mt. Scott Boulevard, Portland, Oregon.

DONALD LOUIS “DON” CREMENT was born September 25, 1956 in Phillipsburg, New Jersey, the son of Louis D. and Dorothy (Kadar) Crement. He was raised and received his education in Nashua, New Hampshire, having been a graduate of Nashua High School with the Class of 1975. Following his high school education, Don enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. He served for four years as a Communications Systems Technician until receiving his honorable discharge in 1979 at the rank of Corporal.

He was united in marriage to Rachel Gagnon on December 5, 1987 in Hudson, New Hampshire. They were married for 24 years and had two sons, Scott and Shawn.

Don had worked for many years in New Hampshire at Sanders (later becoming Lockeed Martin), in communications. Recently, Don was employed at McDonald’s in Hillsboro, Oregon.

Don was a member of St. Matthew Catholic Church in Hillsboro, Oregon.

He was very involved in the Boy Scouts of America, having served as the Assistant District Commissioner for the Cascade Pacific Council, and Unit Commissioner for Troops 225 and 615 in Hillsboro, Oregon. Don was very active in the Order of the Arrow in Oregon and in New Hampshire, and was curator for the New Hampshire Camp Carpenter Scouting museum, Daniel Webster Council. Don enjoyed volunteering with food drives, camping, and helping scouts obtain their Eagle Scout rating, having received the honor himself in 1974.

Among his other special interests, Don enjoyed bowling and collecting model trains. He was also an avid Boy Scout patch collector.

Don was preceded in death by his father, Louis Crement.

Survivors include his mother, Dorothy Crement of Beaverton, Oregon; his two sons, Scott Crement and Shawn Crement, both of Merrimack, New Hampshire; his two sisters and brothers in law, Bridget and Brenden Johnson of Hillsboro, Oregon; Florence and Jesse Whiting of Vancouver, Washington and his grandmother, Rose Paton, of Hillsboro, Oregon.

Also surviving are numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family suggests that remembrances be contributions to the Boy Scouts of America, Cascade Pacific Council, 2145 SW Naito Parkway, Portland, Oregon 97201, in his memory.
