14 DAY TRIAL // WordPress.com is making it easier than ever to create a new post no matter where you are on the site. When inspiration strikes, all you have to do is hit the New Post button in the top toolbar and you're on your way.
The feature is actually pretty impressive, it's certainly eye catching. Hit the new post button and a new post editor opens up on top of the page and the toolbar.
It's a bit simpler than the regular editor, but you've got everything you'd really need. What's more, it's easy to switch between different types of posts, to upload an image, post a video or just a link you want to share.
"Simply click the New Post button on the right side of the toolbar, and you can instantly start a new post with the editor that slides down from the top of the screen," WordPress.com detailed the process.
"Use the Write a Post tab if you want to include multiple images in your post (or if you want to write a text-only post). If you just want to quickly share a single photo, select the Post a Photo tab," it added.
"When the post is ready, add some tags if you like, then choose the blog you want to post to (if you have more than one) using the drop-down menu below the post editor," it said.
WordPress is very much the emblem of blogging, it's the platform of choice for anyone from the smallest blogger to sites with millions of visitors. It comes with everything that a serious blogger would ever need.
By extension, WordPress.com the hosting service built on top of the WordPress software comes with everything any serious blogger would need.
The problem is, blogging is changing and the bloggers of today are not exactly the same as the bloggers of three or five years ago. Their needs are changing as well.
Tumblr is the perfect example of this and it's WordPress.com's biggest competitor. By some metrics, it's already bigger. So what's WordPress to do? Well, adapt, which is what the string of updates of late have been about, including the latest one.
