After a six-year hiatus, American pop-punk band Good Charlotte released their sixth full-length record, Young Authority, last year, and are now taking the album on the road on a Canadian tour that hits the Club Regent Event Centre April 15.

Good Charlotte began their career with a bang, releasing two huge singles from their self-titled debut record in 2000. Their next record, The Young and the Hopeless solidified them as one of the biggest bands of the new millennium, thanks in large part to the single Lifestyles of the Rich and the Famous, which sold five million copies.

After the release of their fourth record in 2010, the band, fronted by twins Benji and Joel Madden, decided it was time for a break; they shut down their website and merch store and Good Charlotte went radio silent.

During the hiatus, both Benji and Joel got married — Joel to designer and reality TV personality Nicole Richie and Benji to actress Cameron Diaz — continued work on their MDDN company and started the Madden Brothers side project. They also produced and wrote music for numerous other artists.

“We had grown up inside the band,” Benji said in a news release. “We felt we needed to take a step away to find out who we were outside of the band, and do some growing personally.”

The band officially reformed in 2015, and released Young Authority in May 2016.

Tickets start at $34, plus taxes and fees, and go on sale Friday, Feb. 17 at Ticketmaster and casinosofwinnipeg.com.
