Gruff Rhys Releases New Video 'Selfies in the Sunset' with Lily Cole

Gruff Rhys' latest album Babelsberg, has been called "his best solo album yet" by Q Magazine, and PopMatters said "nearly everything he touches is special, and his latest outing, Babelsberg, is no exception...a hugely satisfying listen."

Following a series of sold-out shows performed with full orchestras in Cardiff, London and Manchester, and in advance of the start of a rare North American tour, we are very excited to present you with a completely timely and unique video for "Selfies In The Sunset", directed and animated by Ewan Jones Morris. The video features Gruff and guest singer Lily Cole creating Animojis and taking selfies ahead of the apocalypse.

Gruff's North American tour starts in just a few weeks, and these are special shows, especially since he doesn't tour here as often as we'd like. Gruff will be joined by the exact band he had on the album...drummer Kliph Scurlock, bassist Stephen Black and Osian Gwynedd on piano.

In a career that's spanned three decades, two languages, multiple bands, offshoots, collaborations and one boundless imagination, Babelsberg is Gruff's finest set of songs to date. Released in June, the album is a ten-song index of modern times. Over the course of Babelsberg's songs, Gruff manages to perfectly document our troubled and troubling times with humour, grace and always addictive melody. The lyrics on it take on subjects such as the smoke and mirrors of division at the heart of our major cities, the 21stcentury's new forms of state sponsored murder, the numbing effect helplessness of the 24-hour news cycle and the rise and rise of the delusional male ego. To counterbalance Babelsberg's lyrical themes, each of these ten tales of the fear-and-now is set against gorgeous, honeyed sound.
